Creative Lodgings

No stranger to the importance of introducing art and culture into every aspect of what they do is the group Pueblo Bonito Oceanfront Resorts and Spas. With four luxury properties in Los Cabos alone (Pueblo Bonito Rosé, Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos, Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach and Pueblo Bonito Pacífica), the president of the organization, Ernesto Coppel, explains his philosophy by saying, "My mission has been to provide an elegant experience for every person who stays with us, whether they are lounging in a swimsuit by the pool or dining in one of our beautiful restaurants. An integral part of that experience is great food. Another is gorgeous surroundings and an atmosphere of uniqueness, accentuated by original works of art."

In addition to unsurpassed service, the artwork featured at Pueblo Bonito hotels is what sets them apart from others in the area. In the Rosé, situated on the famous Médano Beach, guests will encounter Flemish tapestries dating back to 1580, Florentine credenzas from the 1500s, and a pair of carved and gilded Italian Renaissance columns in the lobby. A stroll through the gardens will reveal marble busts of proud Emperors Caesar Augustus and Caracalla, along with a giant statue of Neptune, Roman god of the sea, created in Italy, in the reflecting pool. If centuries-old Mexican art is of interest, then a visit to Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach on the Pacific side is a must. Interspersed throughout the hotel is an impressive array of oil paintings depicting life in colonial Mexico. Religious paintings, some done on ornamented crosses by Mexican artists, and even one by monks, are also prevalent here.

Known for its exclusive guest list and celebrity clientele, Las Ventanas al Paraíso is another resort taking art and beauty into consideration. In order to create a distinctive Mexican-Mediterranean environment, designers began a painstaking process to select pieces that would provide romantic and cultural flavors, as well as rich colors and textures to the property. Original works of art by both Mexican and American artists adorn the lobby, public corridors and every guest suite. They include pottery and murals made of colorful tiles, sculptures, oversized drawings of cactuses and one-of-a-kind oils on paper.

Every artistic detail at Las Ventanas al Paraíso, from the stunning headboards with inlaid pebbles in a sunburst design to the impressive stone carpet in the reception area, was created exclusively for the resort by individual artists. On the built-in nightstands and over each fireplace, guests will find hand-painted designs portraying Mexican motifs. The cedar doors welcoming visitors into each suite were hand carved in Guadalajara from cedar, and the wrought iron locks were done by a local artisan.
