Open-Air Markets
In Los Cabos, “organic” and “fresh” are both very, very old news. On Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. from November through March, you can partake of the freshest of organic fruits and vegetables, baked goods, preserves, arts and crafts, hand-painted clothing and more at the San José del Cabo Organic Market in Huerta María. Visitors and locals come together to enjoy an alfresco experience almost as old as Mexico itself, when the spirit of community and of San José is most felt.
The next Saturday, head to the Cabo San Lucas Farmer’s Market, which runs from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. across from Colegio del Camino, by the rear entrance to Pedregal. You’ll find everything from crackling-fresh herbs to organic chickens and even workshops on sustainable living. Much of the produce comes from family-run farms in the area, which have been in the business for decades and bestow their offerings to some of Los Cabos’ best restaurants.
