Organic Market
The Los Cabos Organic Farmers' Market is a heady delight for all the senses.

Visiting the Organic Farmers’ Market is a colorful way to spend a Wednesday or Saturday morning. Browsing among the many stalls brings you closer to the foods you eat — and a chance to buy healthy snacks for peak wellness during your stay. Imagine chomping on a crisp bright carrot or peeling back the rind of a luscious juicy orange rather than digging into a bag of processed chips. You’ll feel better… and virtuous. Then you can go ahead and indulge a bit more at dinner.
Perusing this fabulously fresh market is also just plain fun. It’s an opportunity to see the beautiful produce of this region harvested from the land and below the ocean — fresh fish, tiny yellow squash, dark leafy greens, jumbo shrimp and lobster. If you like to cook, you’ll surely want to pick up a few tantalizing things. But even if you’re here just to look, it’s a way to feel more connected to the bounty of Los Cabos. You’ll be seduced by the yummy prepared foods like bean-and-cheese dip, homemade yogurt, veggie pizza, local chickpea spread, warm tamales and more.
There’s more to this market than food. For the shopaholic in all of us, there are paintings, sculptures, jewelry, books in English for languid poolside relaxation — and maybe an English-speaking author himself. English is the predominant language among shoppers here. If you really want to get the inside scoop on the area, drop by for a chat with expats. They’re a friendly lot and turn the marketplace into a social event. It’s interesting to learn why various people have fallen so in love with Los Cabos that they’ve made it their home. Their passion about the location is contagious — and, after a morning of conversation, you might just find yourself shopping here on a regular basis. Hours of operation: Wednesday from 7 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday from 8 to noon. Location: Pedregal, a high-end residential neighborhood.
For even more, guests can take a 45-minute tour of the U.S. Department of Agriculture-certified organic farm Huerta Los Tamarindos. An experienced agricultural engineer discusses the herbs and vegetables, demonstrates the proper way to pick and explains what it takes to become a certified organic farm. The tour ends at the ranch house where guests can purchase products, including tomato sauce and infused oils. Located just a mile from the Sea of Cortés and San José’s estuary. www.huertalostamarindos.com
