Tours - Whale Watching Season Cabo San Lucas
Cabo San Lucas — January 1, 2012 to March 31, 2012

When: January through March each year.

Whale watching is a must in Los Cabos between the months of January and March with a rare opportunity to observe them migrating south to the waters off Los Cabos. The whales' breeding grounds are primarily on the Pacific side, but some whales travel around the cape to the Sea of Cortez. Of the eleven species of whales found worldwide, eight venture to the waters off Los Cabos. Ideal climate, shallowness, salinity and abundant marine life make the bays and lagoons north of Los Cabos the perfect place for whales to birth and rear their young.

Art - San Jose del Cabo Art District Walking Tour
San José del Cabo — January 1, 2012 to June 30, 2012

This popular weekly event takes place every Thursday evening between the months of November and June. The galleries welcome guests to enjoy an evening strolling the neighborhood, viewing art, sipping wine and dining at the fabulous neighborhood restaurants. All who participate are open from 5pm-9pm and often certain galleries will have special events such as "artist in attendance" or openings of new work. It is a great night to come downtown and enjoy what our district has to offer.

Locals and visitors alike gather to listen to live music in the town’s main square. Food vendors sell hot tamales and a popular local hot chocolate called champurrado.

Candlelight processions, music, food and dance herald the arrival of spring for Dia de la Candelaria. The traditional blessing of seeds and candles co-mingles pre-Hispanic and European traditions.

Art - Todos Santos Art Festival
Todos Santos — February 4, 2012 to February 11, 2012

Funded primarily by the government, the Art Festival brings folk dancing, music and theater performance to Todos Santos. There are workshops teaching Latin music and folk dancing and recitals featuring piano and poetry. It’s definitely not your average art festival.

San Jose Del Cabo — March 8, 2012 to March 18, 2012

This festival honors the city’s patron saint San José (St. Joseph). This 11-day festival commences on March 8th every year. Food venues are sprinkled throughout the downtown, and booths carrying items like freshly made tamales and sugared pumpkin candies are available. On the weekends, there are carnivals and parades. Admission is free.

Fishing - Bisbee's East Cape Fishing Tournament
Hotel Buena Vista Beach Resort, Los Cabos — July 24, 2012 to July 28, 2012

Anglers from all over the world come to the East Cape to compete for large cash prizes. In 2010, three tournament records were set and more than $300,000 was awarded. The Sea of Cortés is home to some of the biggest billfish in the world.

Festival - Festival of St. James
Downtown Los Cabos — July 25, 2012

St. James the Apostle is credited with bringing Catholicism to Mexico and is described as a magical man who rides a white horse. He is the patron Saint of Spain. Look for riders mounted on white horses in the parades and re-enacted battlefield skirmishes staged at the town square around dusk. The parades begin at 2 pm followed by street parties swelling from the cantinas.

Processions including live bands and floats celebrate the Virgin Mary’s rise into heaven. Many restaurants offer buffet specials into late in the night.

Holiday - Independence Day
Mexico — September 17, 2012

Mexican Independence is celebrated every year at 11 p.m. throughout Mexico. In Mexico City, the President rings the liberty bell as he waves the Mexican flag and shouts “Mexicanos, viva México.” The crowd responds by singing the National Anthem. This practice is mirrored by the governor of each state. A parade and civil ceremony is held on Sept. 16, often followed by rodeos, bullfights and festivities.

This festival celebrates the patron saint of Cabo San Lucas. Streets close and a parade passes through the center of downtown. Festival - Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead Festival)
Mexico — November 1, 2012

The Day of the Dead is an important Mexican holiday celebrated on Nov. 1, which merges pre-Columbian beliefs and modern Catholicism by honoring Mexico’s fallen ancestors. This is a key festival in Cabo San Lucas and throughout the nation. Families pay their respects with altars that are elaborately decorated with photos, candles and food offerings. These altars are displayed in the town’s main square, Plaza Amelia Wilkes, and the best altar is given a prize.

Fishing - Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot
