Family Fun in Cabo
A family's real-life experience.

If repeat visits are an indicator that a destination is worthwhile, then anyone who speaks with Suzanne Schlanger will be convinced of the allure Los Cabos has for families. After all, she has visited at least once a year since 1998, with her husband and four children.
The Schlanger family has vacationed in a variety of destinations in Mexico and beyond, but they always end up back in Los Cabos, she says. “Cabo, in general, has a lot of variety,” Schlanger explains. “It’s modern, it’s clean, it’s safe; you don’t have to worry. We’ve been to a lot of places, and we always go back to Cabo.”
One of the biggest selling points for Los Cabos, according to Schlanger, is the range of activities available. “They have a lot to offer, whether it’s horseback riding or ATV, scuba diving or snorkeling,” she notes. Her
family has also enjoyed dolphin swims, glass-bottom boat rides and participating in turtle release programs.
In addition, the kids clubs available at many hotels make it easy to keep her children -— who are ages 6, 7, 9 and 10 — happy and entertained. “One of the reasons that we’ve gone back to the InterContinental [now the Holiday Inn] is that the kids love the schedule of activities. We have videotapes of our kids learning salsa dancing. They have bingo every day. Every night, they have a show. The kids love it — they’ve seen the show over and over again, and yet they always want to see it again.”
According to Schlanger, the quality of service and amenities offered by hotels in Los Cabos is another big plus — and the all-inclusive option works especially well for families, she adds. “I have yet to encounter someone with kids who doesn’t prefer an all-inclusive,” she said, noting that all-inclusives offer the advantage of not having to worry about the cost of food, refreshments and entertainment. “When we’re at an all-inclusive, I send them off and they do whatever all day and I don’t worry about it.”
Schlanger’s vacation experiences may be inspiring, but it will soon be easier for even more families to share their best Los Cabos stories, thanks to a new program from Visit Cabo.
